22 Tips and Apps for Your iPhone's Camera
The iPhone’s camera is not bad, but it’s not the most feature rich digital camera out there. Plus, it’s paired with a programmable device. In other words, it’s a perfect opportunity for third-party add-on apps that can, ostensibly, improve it. Here are 22 (yup, 22) ways to make the iPhone’s camera better and different.

Hands On with the Sidekick LX
The T-Mobile Sidekick is back, baby! After ruling the cell phone zeitgeist for a couple of years, the Sidekick pretty much dropped out of favor. Now, however a slimmer, smarter device with a super-high-res screen is on its way to market. Can the LX help Sidekick reclaim its former glory?
Our Favorite General-Purpose PC
So many things in life come full circle, so why should I be surprised that Lenovo is now producing industry-leading desktop PCs. After all, Lenovo bought the PC business from the mother of all PC manufacturers—IBM. For years, Lenovo offered no desktops in the U.S. Now Lenovo is back with a vengeance, and its Lenovo IdeaCentre K220 is an attractive PC that smokes the competition when it comes to getting things done quickly. Read the full review for more details.
Google's Schmidt Talks Privacy, Internet Domination
Say it with me and Eric Schmidt: Google is not evil, Google is not evil. Seriously, it isn’t, but it seems that Schmidt feels the need to trot all over the country reiterating this point. He also takes the time to explain just what Google is, as if we didn’t already know.
The Pirate Bay Verdict Won't Affect File Sharing
If you use BitTorrent to download—ahem—content, then you’ve likely been following the Pirate Bay trial. Pirate Bay uses BitTorrent to enable downloads—without hosting anything. Now this band of wacky Swedes has been convicted. Reviews czar Dan Costa says that even if Pirate Bay does go away for a few years, the course of file sharing will remain unchanged. Read Costa’s column for the full story.
Off with a Bang—Week One Case Mod Contestants
ExtremeTech’s Case mod contest is well under way and ET already has some pretty amazing entrants. The slideshow really speaks for itself. ET has also selected a Week One Winner. Follow the link for the results.

PlayStation 3's Death Spiral
In my house, we have a Nintendo Wii and an Xbox 360, and I can’t remember my kids ever asking for a PlayStation 3. Are we the market in microcosm? As ExtremeTech Editor Loyd Case sees it, yes. Case wonders if it’s too late for Sony to recover this generation.
Building a Windows 7 Computer, Part 1
ET editor Loyd Case doesn’t spend all of his time worrying about the fate of Sony’s PlayStation. In fact, he’s pretty busy right now trying to build his first Windows 7 big rig. Sounds like a fun project, but oh, those skyrocketing costs. He’s already up to $2,500, and he hasn’t even started yet. Sheesh.
Windows 7 Won't Open Doors for Linux
People who think that netbooks are the next big opportunity for Linux-based operating systems remind me of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz. Just click your heels together and say “There’s no OS like Linux” three times, and Linux will be on all the world’s desktops. It’s simply not going to happen. Get inside my reasoning in this latest column.
