Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols: How slow can Linux go?

In a comment to one of my recent stories, someone said that they could run
Windows 7 on an older PC, but not Linux. Yeah. Right. But, how slow can a PC go
and still run desktop Linux? Here's the answer.

Seth H. Weintraub: First Google Android Netbooks spotted

Certainly this can't be it. The first Google Android netbook should certainly
be more monumental than this $100 device from SkyTone.

Is Java as we know it doomed?

While Oracle and Sun Microsystems are hailing Oracle's purchase of Sun as a big
boost for Java, others are not so sure, questioning what kind of control Oracle
might try to exercise over the popular platform that has driven so many
enterprise applications since it was first developed in 1995. Observers also
expect Oracle to make a go of trying to make more money off of Java than Sun
ever could.

Review: OCZ's high-capacity solid-state disk 'a solid choice'

want to noticeably boost your laptop's performance, this is a solid choice.

ago and clearly has no clue! One time a user brought in their laptop to be
backed up and reimaged, and the employee in question drags the user's shortcuts
(notice I said shortcuts!) form the desktop to the CD drive and burns them ...
