IN THIS ISSUE
This week we have lots of Palm Pre news--and speculation, to go along with our Apple rumors, of course. And Brian got his hands on the newest Flip camcorder, the UltraHD; find out how he liked it, and take a look at some unboxing shots while you're at it.

Palm Pre 2 Rumors Pop Up Again
In January, a Palm insider told us that the next WebOS phone may be a lower-cost, candybar-style model without a QWERTY keyboard. No, it wouldn't be a "Centro 2" in that it wouldn't have the Centro form factor, but like the Centro, it would address a less expensive end of the market where Palm has been strong recently.

Unboxing The Flip UltraHD
This morning, Pure Digital announced the latest addition to its Flip line of pocket camcorders. The UltraHD is an update to the original Flip Ultra, the camera that helped launched the YouTube camcorder revolution. The UltraHD shoots in 720p (1280 by 720) resolution--and interestingly, it's actually one of the few HD camcorders that doesn't also have a standard definition mode. Check out some closeup shots of the camcorder in action.

Don't Shoot In Auto--Macromania
If you've got a DSLR you'll notice your lens will only focus so close. Maybe not close enough for you. That's especially true if you want to show detail in a flower or insect or some other small object. So what's a shooter to do? Moving your lens farther from your camera's sensor with an extension tubes or bellows is an idea I've talked about before. That's a common method of reducing your minimum focus distance and getting macro shots.

Your Asthma Inhaler--Now With GPS
Asthma inhalers are great and all, but you know what they're lacking? The latest consumer technology, of course. No, we're not talking about Wi-Fi or an MP3 player (not that we'd really be opposed to either)--we're talking GPS.

First Zero-Carbon Motorbike Race Goes Full Speed Ahead
"Being green doesn't have to mean slow," says Paul Brandon of Team Kingston University, one of the groups participating in the world's first green motorcycle race. TTXGP, a race for motorcycles of various technologies that promise eco-friendly transport for the future, was first announced mid of last year.
